Volunteer Programs
AACH thanks you for your interest in volunteering! Our volunteer program is critical to fulfilling the organization’s mission and provides the residents with necessary services. AACH is committed to offering you a rewarding and fun volunteer opportunity.
To become a volunteer at AACH:
1. Attend a volunteer orientation. Our next volunteer orientation will be February 18, 2010 at 7:00 PM. Attending an orientation is a requirement for all new volunteers.
2. Complete an application.
3. Complete a background check. Please visit mybackgroundcheck.com to complete your screening. Select Virginia, then Arlington-Alexandria Coalition for the Homeless, and identify yourself as an applicant to volunteer. Follow the prompts to input your information. Please consider paying for your screening as a contribution to our programs.
4. Read our bi-weekly volunteer newsletter or join our Facebook page to learn about upcoming volunteer opportunities.

Our family was homeless due to my husband losing his job; we couldn’t make ends meet. The Sullivan House kept a roof over our heads, along with loving caseworkers who didn’t belittle us.
