Children's Programs
SKIT:
Over half of all AACH clients are children, and over half of these children are less than six years old. In response to the needs of these children, AACH has developed a comprehensive program called SKIT. SKIT stands for Support for Kids in Transition. SKIT volunteers assist children living at Sullivan House with positive, educational and recreational activities. Activities include arts and crafts projects, game playing, esteem building and outdoor fun. Volunteers are needed Wednesday evenings.
Homework Helpers:
Homework Helpers are often needed to help children with their school work after school. Homework Helpers work anytime from 4-7pm, Monday through Friday. The days and and amount of time that you are volunteer are flexible, but we ask that you try and commit to at least one day per week.
Field Trips:
This program gives AACH families a chance to visit local places of interest including the National Zoo, Smithsonian Museums, parks, and more. At least two field trips are planned per month and they usually occur on weekends. Field trips generally utilize 5-10 volunteers and involve 5-10 clients.

The education [training] helped me earn more money and be in a career that I enjoy. The budget showed me what I was, at the beginning, wasting my money on and helps me stay focused toward my future goals.
