Help families move into their own apartments
A few times per month someone moves out of the Sullivan House. The majority of these individuals move to a house or an apartment within a 10-mile radius of the shelter. Unfortunately, many of our clients lack their own transportation and simply can not afford to rent a truck. You can assist us in helping these clients move. Normally these moves take place during the evening or on the weekends. It is not necessary that your own a truck or van, but bringing one would be helpful. In addition, when free time permits, volunteers are also needed to organize the pantry and the children’s game closets.

I was working on my Bachelor of Arts degree while living at the shelter. LifeWorks skills training, workshops and sessions helped me push forward to reach my goal… Someone once told me that I would never get hired as a teacher in Arlington. Here I am.
I am now an Arlington County Public School Teacher.
